Gautam Gambhir Back in Indian Test Team

gautam gambhirThere was a time when Gautam Gambhir was the number one international test batsman with runs scored in all conditions. However, after 2011 his career went downhill and two years ago he was dropped across all formats.

Things are beginnings to shine for Gautam Gambhir with great run of form in domestic cricket and now with KL Rahul being injured, Gambhir has been recalled as opener in the test team. After a gap of almost 2 years, he will be making a come back in the team for ongoing test series against the New Zealand team.

He is recalled because of injured KL Rahul who will miss out the test matches because of right hamstring injury he had in the first test against New Zealand. He got injured while running for a run in the second inning and then was ruled out for remaining of the inning. India went on to win the match by 197 runs and Rahul contributed well with the bat in the match.

Gambhir is currently 34 years old and he last played a test match against England in 2014. His performance in the series wasn’t good and then he was dropped from the team. However, he scored with average of 71.2 in recent Duleep Trophy for the India blue.

It will be interesting to see if Gambhir will make it to the playing eleven or not for Kolkata test but if he will be playing then it wouldn’t be less than like playing a debut match for him. We wish all the luck and hope he’d score tons of runs for India again.
